Close Comet Pass

The very close passage of a comet would create an incredible spectacle. The one shown here is small; large comets have comas millions of miles across. No doubt the reaction to such an event would range from religious hysteria to scientific curiosity to general wonderment to blaming Obama. Relief that there was no collision would be appropriate. Feel free to imagine an imminent impact if you are a misanthrope or a comic book supervillain.
