Mazirian the Magician

A scene from The Dying Earth by Jack Vance, one of my favorite books. In this tableau, Mazirian uses the Spell of the Omnipotent Sphere to cast off rubble dropped on him by T'Sain, the victim of his tireless pursuit. The two are able to survive in the depths of Sanra Water by virtue of the Charm of Untiring Nourishment. This is my fourth revision of this piece, and was an early effort to create a scene using 3D software. Buy a print here.
